I'd like to keep these in my next tank. I would love to hear from anyone about the needs of these beautiful fishes.
Can they tolerate high filtration rates in a tank or do they need to be kept in a tank with low flow rates specifically?
What's their favourate food in your experience?
Would they be comfortable in a tank with a good surface agitation?
Anything at all really,..anything that would make them feel comfortable in an aquarium.
I would love to hear your experiences.

Cheers.

They are pretty Hardy so should be fine in your average tropical aquarium.
They dont mind a wide range ot temperature from 22-28˚C and not that bothered about PH from 6.5 – 8.5.
Grow up to 4 inches, better off in at least a pair and with a 30 Gallon tank.
They are peacfull so shouldn;t be put with agressive fish or they will become very shy.
I am planning on two for my 425 litre tank. Really like them. 😉

Hi all,
They are quality fish and easy to keep in a planted tank. They really like Mosquito larvae and some floating plants. Conditioned on live food they are easy to breed (although the fry are reasonably tricky to rear), although you would need a calmer area for bubble nesting. They are sexable when sub-mature, as soon as the males develop anal fin extensions.

Cheers guys. 🙂 Can't wait to have them. I've been collecting stuffs slowly for about a year now for my new tank. I saw a few of them at a local LFS a few months back. Thanks for your feedbacks.

Hi all,
They would be pelvic fins
That the ones, also sometimes called ventral fins.

You can see the male fin extensions on the anal and dorsal fins (and flushed head colour) in Iain's photo. I'll never understand why they aren't more popular, they are just as interesting and attractive as Angel fish or Discus.

cheers Darrel
