Do I need to look at the time period over which it releases the nutrients? Also will it bw safer if a spread some sera florena pills instead?

Hi all,

I think they probably all do, but the "Multicote" looks most suitable. They are "controlled release fertilisers", which just means the soluble salts are encased in a resin shell, which is slightly permeable. The thickness and permeability of the shell is altered to give different release periods (1st one looks like "6 months"), and the fertiliser mix is altered for different types of plants, high nitrogen for bedding plants, lower for shrubs etc.

Usually release is quickest in warm, wet conditions, which means that you are likely to get an initial "flush" of nutrients, rather than the a prolonged release.

cheers Darrel
