Hi all
I have a 60 cm tank which is my first attempt of a high tech. Everything's fine after 3 months, thanks to your advice I improved my pH profile, a changed to a spraybar, to a CO2 atomizer, etc. The tank looks like this
After trimming I have noticed that now that the plant biomass is higher the flow is not that good. Some indicators: some coating algae on the lower leaves of the background plants, some algae on the sides of the tank, even a small spot of BGA in the left front corner. Nothing to be worried about, but I guess this situation will be worst during the next months with more biomass. I recognize that it is not the easiest hardscape for a beginner... You know plenty of branches and plants that difficult the flow, but now this cannot be changed and I really love it. It is a challenge. So definitely I have to improve the flow. These are my 3 ideas:
1. Change the spraybar config. Now I have 10 holes every 5 cm along the back... Will it help to make less holes, more holes???
The jets really hit the front glass as recommended.
2. Add a Koralia Nano 900. Not expensive and incredibly small (6cm) but the question is where. I think it should be placed helping the spraybar flow, so that means on the back. Center? Center just under the spraybar or lower? Will it really solve the flow problem of the sides?
3. Add Eheim surface skimmer with a double function, get rid of the surface scum (which is not really a serious problem to me, but I guess it would help) and have an additional outflow. I really don't know if the flow can be compared to the Koralia, probably not. Another thing I don't like is this item is quite big for a 60 cm, isn't it?
Thanks for your help,
Jordi
