I know macro nutrients and micro nutrients are equally important, but if asked to choose one, which one is more important? Macro or micro?

Macro. Never go without em. Then you need Micro....

Both are important which is why both exist. However in a slower running low tech tank you can often get away with no micros due to sufficient micro nutrients in fish food and fish poo, as well as not needing such large doses of macro.
