Nitrate (NO3) to Nitrogen? Possible? My tank

Thanks for the information. I think your conclusion - that the growth of algae consumed available nitrate - makes a lot of sense. Have you now removed the algae?

I basically scrubbed all the driftwoods with my hand as it was very easy to remove this way, and golly there was a lot algae for what was actually easily visible. I am waiting for the plants to arrive now on Friday, so I guess I might need to clean it again after that hopefully the growth of the plants will outweigh algae and everything will be happy
