I was in the same situation as u about 8 months ago, i wish i had somebody take 10 mins and tell me how to get started, Now like Andy says with the tutorial, there's nothing better than learning how to do something rather than be told.
With that being said, its nice to have bit of help. So by the looks of what you want to achieve i can suggest what i would consider the best plant to start with. (I have spent alot of money on plants i simply could not grow due to inexperience)
3 Tips:
1. Have a good flow of water around your tank.
2. Have good substrate.
3.Be patient.
What im linking is not what i think you should buy or where you should buy it from, i am giving you an example of what you should use:
Substrate:
http://www.thegreenmachineonline.com/shop/ada-aqua-soil-amazonia-3-litre-2/
With that type of substrate you MUST wait atleast 3 weeks before adding fish as your water will be full of toxins leaching from the soil, Plants will be fine.
If you dont have the money for this type of substrate, get a fine gravel and make sure to root tab under every plant that you are planting and next to any existing plants. (The good substrate will actually cost less in the long run however)
Root tabs:

Some easy ferts:

Some of the long plants on the right are Amazon swords, in my opinion these can grow in any light, with any substrate.
Now these when you buy them they will probably come with a few plants in the bunch, take off any wool/lead weights, separate the plants into individual plants (You will be able to tell the individual plants as they have stems coming from a centre root ball).
Cut any roots so they are about 3-4 cm long, Plant the root ball down just enough for it to not be visible.
Now the next few weeks is gonna be rough with this plant, its inevitable that the leaves it came with WILL melt and die, but if you planted it correctly and dont mess around with it too much it will grow a new leaf, the moment that happens the plant is established in its new home and will grow new leaves every week, maybe 2 a week. Once it has grown a couple of leaves start to trim off the worst looking melting leaves, The maintenance of this plant is the exact same, the more you cut, the more it grows (and the smaller it grows) and maybe a drop of ferts every now and then (read the label).

But please, do alot of research and enjoy learning as well as making mistakes, we all do it.
Good luck
