Need help in developing an Aquascape like this.

It's been hardly more than a month when I changed replaced the filter with, Eheim Classic 250 and I can see pest snails made a colony inside the hose pipes. How can they get inside the coarse sponge that I am using in the intake? Earlier that filter was inside another newly setup tank for 15 days without the pre-filter sponge. Could this be the reason?
 
If you’re still struggling with snails then you need to reduce feeding even more. Snails thrive when there is an abundance of food for them.

Could the snails have been in the filter and made their way along the hose?
