Love my fish keeping, love my three small tanks all under 50 litres, BUT I hate noisy aquariums. So I've been trying out different types of fillter. The Hygger black internal filter, Nicrew 20L model, Fluval U1, Eheim Pickup 45, Weipro Internal TH280 series filter ,and Oase Biocompact 25.
And after running each for one to two weeks I have found the quietest are, In third place the Weipro, In second place the Oase Bio Compact 25, and in first place the Fluval U2.
Trouble is the U2 is a big space stealing lump, whilst the Oase is tiny and will need frequent cleaning, Where as the Weipro is adaptable and tweakable though an uncommon brand. But again quite large.
I have a 30 liter tank right by my bed and none of my chosen three affect my slumber, worst case scenario as they get near needing to be cleaned in a very faint hum from the motors.
FYI I silicone grease all my impellor shafts to reduce wear and cavitation noise.
I also sought a china clone and affordable version of the metal Nano Canister filters so beloved of Scapers, but found none in the UK.
I also tried the Hyyger small HOB filter but it was way to noisy and I could not silence it.
I gotta admit though many of these budget filters are as quiet as the propriety brands.
