MTV-Kribs

Wow, they really are small.

Great news with the fry. Are there any species in your collection you haven’t managed to spawn yet?
I sold the atropersonatus and sterbai before I had a chance to try with them properly. One of them spawned but I'm not sure which.
Other than that I've spawned all of the others this year.
If I get more room I'd like to try Robineae next as there doesn't seem to be many reports of them spawning in captivity. Also interested in trying Nannoptopoma sp. peru.

A few more blurry pics of the cw111s and fry, now at 1 week old. They've laid eggs almost every other day since they started. I've collected over 100 eggs at this point. I have more eggs than I can grow on so I've stopped feeding live food in an effort to stop them spawning. A few fry have appeared in the tank with the adults so not collecting eggs doesn't guarantee that they won't make it.

They seem to be very easy to breed, hope it means the price for these should start to decrease significantly over the next few years.

Yeah they really are.
Assuming I can raise them up and if others don't start decreasing the price I'll be leading the revolution when it's warm enough to start posting 😂
My only concern is genetic diversity. I'd like to get some unrelated fish to add to the group.

I’ve only ever seen GM offering them. Do you know of any others in the UK? I know the fella who runs the fish barn has got some wild caught adults, not sure if he’s managed to breed them.

There's a guy on eBay/BAND, can't remember his name. He sells them but not sure where he got his original group. I might contact the fish barn, thanks.

Almost managed to get a shot of them in the "T" position but my phone wasn't recording. Managed to get this blurry screen grab of the dominant female with an egg.
On a side note. I've never known males to fight as much as cw111. I know what used to be lineage 1 corys often fight but I've not kept any of those so not witnessed it before. It seems harmless and they go back to chasing the female fairly quickly so no one male is getting the brunt of the aggression and they don't fight over food, just the opportunity to spawn.

Keeping an eye on this thread.
Do you think 10 or so CW111 would work in a 60 long x 40 high x 30 wide tank (with large sump) there will only be a small sand section so I’m sceptical for bottom dwellers being happy.

I think they will be fine. My 6 are in a 30 cm cube. During the day they're not particularly active and tend to stay in the shadow of the filter. Even when food is added they don't spring into life (though they are fed heavily so might not feel it's worth coming out of the cover of the filter). At night they are more active and also feed more readily.
One thing to note is that they like really clean water. They don't seem to tolerate high bacterial load so I'd stick to a thin sand layer, epiphytic plants and lots of water changes.

Thanks. It’s going to be all Bucephalandra and no soil (rock with some filter foam for hight)
Noted for thin layer of sand 👍 was thinking of auto water change so that seals the deal to do it.
Won’t be for some time but nice to tailor the tank right for the future. Thanks for your advice.
