Depends if you think they're a pest, if their numbers soar and die off, they can upset the tank balance; but their numbers are pretty much dependent on how much you're feeding.

Cut it back, and you should also see them start to disappear.

You can remove excess snails by baiting with some cucumber to attract them but as aqua360 mentions above, their population is controlled by available food, so if you have lots of excess food the population can boom.
