Hey all!

Let me start my journal. I'll post some pictures and more details tonight!

But first, here's the plan:

voqvzr.jpg

Some details, the tank is a Juwel Rio 125 (81cm wide * 36cm depth * 50cm high)
It's equipped with 4 T5 28W bulbs
Filtration is a JBL e901
I've got presurized CO2.

What do you guys think about the layout? Do you reckon it can be harmounious?
More later!!!

Here's an update! Small yeah, I know.

About 6-7 water changes today to bring nitrite low enough.

Some plants in for about a week now!

Nope, what you see is the wall... :)

It's going to stay as it is, no wall at the back just plenty of plants to hide the wall.

Struggling with cycling ah the moment.... :/ nitrites juste keep coing higher and higher...
Did about 7-8 water change yesterday to get it down and this morning, baaaam off the charts again.... :'(
Wait and see....

OMG! Nitrites got down last night!!!! Can't wait to test again tonight....

We'll be adding more plants quickly, just waiting for the paycheck... :)

On the down side, I think I have an algae bloom of some sort, the rock is now greenish.... :/

May i ask, how & why you're 'cycling' ?
If there's no lifestock in there, why not keep the lighting period low, crank up the co2, and do daily water changes till everything starts to grow in.
Get the plant mass higher, and growing well before thinking about 'cycling'
Just a thought.

The plants will do the cycling for you if you have enough. I've never had a single fish loss by adding them straight away to a planted tank. The plants will use up any ammonia from the fish as food.

Why am I cycling, good question... :)

Thing is, I'm bulding my tank real slow cause it's expensive and I'm a bit short moneywise.

So I thought I'd cycle it while i have only a few plants. Well plants will be added this week hopefully, so I'll see from here.

I guess I'm just to impatient, and so is the GF to get fishes...

This is it! Order for plants has been confirmed:

027 POT Hottonia Palustris Tropica

Can't wait!!!!!

Plants are in!
WAsn't too happy with the rock so completely changed the hardscape for wood instead.
Bear with me, the rocks are just here so that the wood does not float :)

Yes!! Silly name, I know, but that's what the GF told me this morning "your tank looks like a Lord of the ring landscape"

Guess she's got quite a bit of imagination.... ^^

Liking it a lot, good shapes going on with the wood and am sure when grown in a bit it will be a winner :)

I have found in the sort time I have been back into planted tanks that they grow like no tomorrow and after a trim, just replant the cuttings to fill some gaps ... It will hopefully be a jungle in no time :)

I just realised that the pics are really bad... Need to get hold of that tripod!

Aw and thanks for supporting me everyone! :)

Feeld good...
