That would dim the light but not solve the issue of coverage as the light is so short it's practically a spotlight!
For the price, I wasn't expecting a lot, but lighting the whole tank would have been nice! The internal filter that comes with it is adequate though, for my low tech ways.I suppose that's the trouble with these 'plug & play' aquariums, you're not meant to grow plants, the light is just for viewing the fish!
Hopefully the new light will solve your problems & give better coverage, though it seems a shame having bought a complete set up an important piece of equipment is unusable.
This is what I've done, I've mounted a nicrew rgb+w on the rim and put the lid back on! It's much better although the lid doesn't sit perfectly so I'll figure out a way to attach it.Have not seen that tank and lid unit, but would one of these thin led lights fit inside or even remove the lid and mount one across the tank as we do.
Lots of different types with colour and dimming so you need to check what you are getting, not sure which include a 24 hour on /off/dimming.

I have frogbit, but the poor light spread is as much of an issue! How about getting some surface plants like Limnobium?
