Hi all, been a while
So i have a 5ft tank to scape for customer, he wants not me, a wall of lava stone from bottom to top, ,so to support i want to back fill it with gravel which seems like its going to get very heavy so i thought at the bottom part i could use leca balls and then cover that with gravel to save weight, i mean the lava stone alone is going tonbe about 80kg can any one of you lovelies ee a problem with this, i assume they are inert and wont change water chemistry

Hi all,

They tend to float and will definitely pop up, through the gravel, via the "muesli effect".

cheers Darrel
but its not going to be shaken or disturbed as its at the back supporting the rock wall, i wont be planting in it, do you still think they will rise?

In my 120p I have mesh bags with variously alphagrog and leca under aquasoil to increase flow through the soil and reduce the cost of more soil. In mesh bags though, no way would I not and risk their inevitable popping up
