When your tank is right in the window, there's not much you're gonna be able to do about that tbh. It’s part of the vibe and something to embrace at that point

I've seen it work here in the northern part of the globe, here in the British Isles, but only twice that I can recall, on both occasions against a broadly north facing window. I can't imagine there was a lot of plant growth for 4 or 5 months of the year, both tanks were unheated with, in one case goldfish - it was a large tank and heavily filtered- and in the other a selection of danios and unfiltered, the latter looked good, the former was just about 'acceptable' to the eye but perfectly healthy.

This is right up there with the 'seasoned tank time' videos, and illustrates the enjoyment to be had from letting nature do its thing, and not panicking! It takes a year, but the journey and the end-result are both part of the enjoyment and the challenge.

Definitely a bold move to site a planted tank right in the window!

As something of a DIY'er, I'm also fascinated to see how he buys ebay tanks and re-sizes them with what seems like just some simple tools, silicone and masking tape.

Not entirely without incident it has to be said, but still....
