Hi all, first post!
I have a Rio 180 that I am about to change to a heavily planted tank. I was originally going to double the light unit which is 2x45w t5 tubes but am starting to think this might be to much light.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Would 180w be too much?
I will be injecting co2 and ferts.
Thanks
Chris

Hello,
As Alastair mentions you should probably think more about doubling your flow and about how to solve the problem of gas diffusion. 2x45w t5 is already often more than some can handle if they don't pay attention to the other, more important aspects of a CO2 enriched tank.

Cheers,

Great sounds like good advise. I am in the middle of properly researching this tank before I set it up and this light thing was bothering me. The tank will be setup in march and am already gathering items off my shopping list, so that's 1 thing to not have to worry about.

Good for you mate. Lighting should be at the very bottom of the priority list. Everything else comes first and it's always better to err on the low side of lighting than on the high side, which causes nothing but grief.

Cheers,
