Is this CO2 setup ok?

I've got a Fluval Flora tank setup which came with the Fluval mini CO2 system which runs the 20g bottles. I just wanted some advice on the setup I'm using with the system :)

I've changed the diffuser to this one - http://www.aquaessentials.co.uk/ae-desi ... p-646.html

Added a Bubble Counter and Check Valve in the form of this one - http://www.aquaessentials.co.uk/easy-aq ... -5667.html

And have recently added a Solenoid so I can have the CO2 turn off at night etc - http://www.aquaessentials.co.uk/dd-co2- ... p-651.html

I just wanted to check that the above additions to the system are ok and suitable to run with it.

One reason I ask is that when the CO2 turned on at lunch time after being off since yesterday, there was a 'rush' of CO2 that came out of the diffuser. Am I right in thinking this is the excess in the pipe between the regulator of the CO2 bottle and the Solenoid? It did settle down after about 5 seconds of being turned on.

Any help would be excellent as I'm still a n00b when it comes to CO2 setups :)

Thanks.

Ahh, awesome, thanks Sam, that's exactly what I wanted to hear :)

Still puzzled with the rush myself, I'll see if it does it again tomorrow..

It 'rushed' so much today it blew the pipe off of the Diffuser :O

I'm currently upgrading to some more substantial air pipe as I type though which should solve the issue (hopefully).

This might be a stupid question as I'm not familiar with that CO2 kit, but does the solenoid fit straight onto the regulator or are they connected by pipe?

Mine is connected by pipe. The order goes:

1) Regulator
2) Solenoid
3) Bubble Counter & non return valve
4) Diffuser

With pipe between all those parts.

I see. Its definately a build up of CO2 between reg and solenoid then. Is there no way the solenoid can fit directly to the regulator?

Not at the moment with the current equipment I'm using :(

I'm looking to buy a different solenoid which has the regulator and a needle valve etc for better adjustment. I've come to the conclusion the Fluval Mini kit is really hard to adjust as it has no 'fine tune'

Thought I'd update this now I have a resolution.

I bought a new CO2 kit :) Much better than before, much more control now I have a needle valve too. Also, no 'surge' when the solenoid turns on!

Thanks for all the help.
