HOB filter modificiation?

Does any body know if cutting some of the teeth of the impeller in my HOB filter will increase the flow of the filter?
I read something about this on a american pico reef forum ages ago, and was just wondering what people thought about this?

Thanks

I imagine it would infact limit flow. Quiet a lot I'd think, I can imagine that being the reason for pico reefs to do it. It seems counter intuitive especially as I'm sure the manufacturers would have the optimal number of blades for the job.

I have to agree with Garuf there, its going to lower the flow of the filter as less fins will mean it will push less water for every turn of the pump.

I would think that the only way to improve flow would be to reduce the amount/ density of media in the filter, this would have obvious implications.

Cheers,

Ton
