Hi
I dont know if im jist paranoid but I think theres something going on with my neon tetras.
Im running filter heater no co2 planted tank.
Ive been checking water parameters twice a day and apart from ph drop in the morning no amonia and only slight nitrite (less than 0.25)
The initial school of six was doing well. I added more plants to make them more comfortable as well as adding 4 more.
The 4 new arrivals were juveniles. Much paler with much less vibrant colouring which was clear to see. Other than that they seemed fine. I assumed they were just mounurished and they are pretty voracious. Which makes sense given how they are juveniles.
Fast forward to today(4 days latee) ive noticed some issues visiual as well as odd behaviour.
One of the origibal tetras seems bloated.
Maybe just slight over eating and constapation. But he is at the back of a tank on his own. See image.
The main worry is one of my older bigger tetras:
1. Loss of vibrant colours (similar paler look as the new tetras)
2. Some sort discoloration on the head
3. Agressive behaviour towards the rest of the pack. It has settled above a smooth stone in the middle of the tank and is constantly chasing away the other tetras and not schooling.
Please advise.
Im considering removing the problem tetras as its behaviour is stressing out the rest of his pals.
