hi.do some heaters glow bright red along the length of the element when heating,just bought a Hidom quartz and it does this while heating water.never had a heater do this before.thank you.
It's pretty normal, if you look inside a hairdryer when turned on, that works with the same principle "Hotwire" and you'll see it glow in the dark. Or even more obvious example Incandescent light bulbs, same principle.
I special metal wire with a high electrical resistance and heat resistance property is used for that. Then a coiled filament is made out of this to get the most length and thus heat into a limited space. With the electricity running through the resistance makes it hot and glow in the dark. For light bulbs the metal Tungsten is used and for heating elements most likely Constantan.
