Hair algae new tank

Not sure which shrimp you have but Amanos would be delighted by the presence of hair algae.

I put near on 40 Armanos in there, not sure how many are left, can’t ever see more than 8. They were in the sand yesterday. But don’t seem to be touching the algae at all

It's possible they are but maybe there is too much algae. Amanos also like to hide so it's difficult to see them at times. I would remove as much algae manually during your next maintenance schedule, and as advised earlier, reduce light etc etc.
