As @Tim Harrison says it's a milk thistle, I feel an urge to add some info to it as it's a very unique plant: its seeds contain compound called silymarin which is capable of neutralize (to some extent) effects of death cap mushroom on humans liver. It's also useful in liver "refreshing", especially for heavy drinkers as it can help at liver cirrhosis and alcoholic liver disease - it stimulates the regeneration and production of new liver cells and above all it helps with the detoxifying and generally protects the liver from numerous poisons. The seeds are rather of no unique taste and with hard shells but can be milled and used as an addiction to many meals.

Milk Thistle ?
