FluVal Hose’s on Oase Biomaster Thermo 250

Hi all i can gather is the outer diameter is 17mm i don’t know if the rubber at the end will fit the Oase BioSmart thermal 250 ?

In that case probably not as Oase are 16/22, so 16 inside diameter and 22 outside diameter. if the outside diameter of Fluval is 17, then the inner is much less that 16.

The fluval hoses are the weird black corrugated ones with the rubber end pieces for connection to the filter barbs, and there are several sizes. The rubber connecting pieces are not the same outer diameter as the actual hoses. Even if you could find one with the right diameter end piece to fit on the biomaster, I doubt you could fit the Oase locking nuts, so you would either have to trust to a friction fit on the filter end or jerry rig something up with hose clamps. I am sure it is possible, and I bet there is someone out there who has done it, but it just sounds more trouble than it is worth. You usually hear of people ditching the Fluval hoses to go with normal ones, not the other way around.

Hi Thanks for the help i see a lot of people do not like Fluval hoses i just thought they might be good in our setup as i might need to move the filter for cleaning

Yeah, they would certainly be more flexible for moving the filter. I know people with Fluval filters have replaced the hoses with normal 16/22 hoses, so you would imagine it is possible the other way around if you get some decent hose clips, it would just be a bit of a faff.

The inlet/outlet port on the top of the Biomaster can easily be removed without any water leaking out of the pipes - surely that would allow it to be moved enough for cleaning?

Hi Maf 2500 i didn’t know about the inlet/outlet port, so it can be removed and the water will be shut off so no leaks brilliant, yes that would do. i will use the hose that comes with the Oase 👍

I also use double taps on my Biomaster for ease of removal when hose cleaning time rolls around.
What about the bit between the double tap and the Oase?

That part is the easiest to clean. Just remove the manifold from the Biomaster as you would during maintenance, then separate the double taps.
There is a trick I saw online for cleaning the manifold and any attached hoses.
