Hi all had this tank awhile have recently taken out the internal filter compartment. Now running a oase external filter 350, however looking for a better light upgrade as the one that comes with it isn’t the best for plants pasted medium growth. Any suggestions on better lighting for this tank?

Doesn’t that particular model have space to add another LED? It comes with the aqua sky, so adding a second one may give you what you need.

Hi thanks for the reply what I have read online fluval lights aren’t the strongest, I know the option of the same Second light, just wondering if there is any better ones out there that can fit in the hood. Thanks

It all depends on what you want to achieve, if you’re going to grow advanced plants that need high light and CO2, then then your lights might not be the right ones for you, but for easy to moderate plants I suspect they will be fine. Several people here use Fluval lights and grow plants successfully.

Has any one successfully grown jungle val in the fluval flex 34 litre with just the one light aquasky light?

Hi there, I had the 57l Fluval Flex & I believe the two tanks are very similar other than sizes/wattage of equipment.
As far as I'm aware neither tank has the Aquasky light. It is a basic multicoloured led bar worked from a remote control.
Neither are there fittings to add a second light bar.
My led lights started to fail & as the Fluval replacement was expensive (to me) I obtained a very cheap single bar light from amazon to tide me over, it stuck to the cover with suckers.
I like growing tall stems & found the position of the standard light too far back which meant they had a tendency to cast a shadow over any small foreground plants. The extra light helped a great deal with this & I kept it even after buying a new Fluval light.
Looking at the Aquasky I don't think even the smallest one will fit, it's too long. So probably a DIY job like @G H Nelson!

Sorry I meant gallon it’s the 123L flex tank I have. The val isn’t growing much. Ferts added aswell as root tabs no runners or good plant growth. I know the second light is an option but for a simple plant like this would have expected it to grow well.

This is the tank just now the light looks strong all settings at 100% however have read it’s not strong another with certain plants didn’t think val would be one of them

What type of tapwater?

My tap water is private well water supply, ph 7.6 kh 8 gh 9 I kept discus and another planted tank few years back didn’t have much of an issue growing plants with my water. Seachem root tabs are next to the vals aswell as flourish, was thinking this to with the left one but no sign of runners as yet
