First time aquascaper!

Hello everyone I’ve just stocked my first aquascape which is aimed to be a Myanmar stream biotope. I’ll settle for “inspired by” though! Enjoying it so far and here to share experiences and keep on top of algae management tips from you experienced people ☺️

Yes! I’m eventually planning to add galaxy rasbora to the mix too and expand my clean up crew but for now I am really enjoying the kubotai! They coloured up so vividly overnight when I first brought them home which was a lovely surprise.

Above the personality (small fish syndrome!) I have found them quite hardy and tolerant. I even had a solitary one in a larger tank whilst bedding it in, and he was the happiest solitary fish alive. Great little devils.

Thank you! I discovered I hated planting hair grass but I really love all the other plants! I guess I’ll get better at planting as I practice more 🤣

I’ve come from big temperate and cold water fish so it’s really enjoyable to see great personality in the nano tropical end of things too. Not just pretty fish! I have sparkling gourami with them and the contrast between colours and behaviour has me captivated 🤩

I really enjoy watching my sparkling gouramis too. I think they’re great little fish to watch
