First attempt to take some pictures of my fish

I didnt even try so far to take pics of fish as they constantly on the move, I saw some members posted their amazing pictures so Just tried my luck to see how bad it can go...took about 20-30 pics and 4-5 only turn out to be decent.

turn the filters off if you plan to take full tank shot?
Any tips to share?
I have a dslr with f1.4 lens (no macro)

As this is your first go I'd say
Put the camera on a tripod, for fish only pics get it as close to the spot in the tank where you want the fish to be - but obviously so you lens can still focus
Push it to manual focus
Then fir fun place some of their favourite food where the camera is focused and snap away
