Hi everyone, I'm trying to find some options regarding floating plants that will aid in my new tank if you can. I'm very much open to ideas barring duckweed. 😀

Hi all,
Hi everyone, I'm trying to find some options regarding floating plants that will aid in my new tank if you can. I'm very much open to ideas barring duckweed. 😀
Amazon Frogbit (Limnobium laevigatum) is a good all rounder.

Others that grow reasonably quickly are Nile Cabbage (Pistia stratiotes) and Salvinia "molesta" (auriculata group). Although Pistia forms much smaller rosettes under lower light.

More "Duckweed like" are Riccia fluitans, Utricularia gibba and Azolla caroliniana.

Two "under the surface" floaters are Ceratophyllum demersum and Ceratopteris thalictroides.

I like both of these, my only reservation would be that Ceratophyllum doesn't like very soft water.

If any of these are any good to you I have plenty spare.

cheers Darrel

Thank you for the cracking reply @dw1305.. I have very hard water so there's no problem there mate. I'd take any of those off your hands gladly. I need them to help with my new tank syndrome and to add abit of pop at top as its open topped too. Cheers for the knowledge 😎
