I think for someone new coming in to a hobby knowing nothing about CO2/ferts, EI is an amazing way to start. It's proven, tested and stood the test of time. Once more comfortable, they can then find their niche, be it lean dosing etc.
Alternatively; they can start with something weird and unconventional and rack up high post count in the "help, I have algae" section of the forum.
