Is the noise air bubbles or is the impeller knocking against something? They're very different sounds. For the former, tilt your filter a little in different doreciotns to get air expelled.

For the latter, open up finer and check the fittings for the impeller. Again, I'm sure all of this will be in the instruction manual somewhere.

It was the air bubble. But I think I have fixed it, by bringing the pre filter sponge in the intake pipe down by few CM. First picture it the sponge was literally touching intersection pipe picture second its slightly down. I still didn't understand how this can cause air bubbles. Now the only noise is mechanical sound of motor, which is fine to me. Sorry I haven't cleaned the tank, I don't have the time to clean it before the weekend.

But what is causing this trapped air? Could it be cause of the pre-filter sponge in the intake?

Its a new tank and I think soil is releasing a lot of ammonia hurting my DHG

Next week I will reduce the water change to twice a week and then eventually once a week

Today when I changed water and turned on the filter the built in surface skimmer of my lily pipe that looked dead earlier, suddenly came into the action. I don't know how to upload video in this forum. But if you look at the picture, it created a strong whirlpool, with all the duckweeds around it and some getting trapped in that stainless steel mesh. If I wouldn't have bought that mesh, the filter would have sucked all the duck weeds.

Today after changing the water and cleaning the pre-filter sponge around the intake, I decided to lift both the intake and out take lily pipes. So earlier the exhaust pipe was submerged in water and now it's few cm above water and I can see more surface movement, more bubbles when water falls from some height I felt that in submerged state there was more load on filter and somehow the flow was marginally low.

What is your opinion?

Are you saying that the water drops out of the return lily pipe into the water? I think you’d be better off setting the lily pipe just under the surface so that you get some surface agitation and a slight whirlpool effect.

The flow won’t be lower and it won’t put more load on the filter. Quite the opposite, by raising your lily pipe you’re making the filter work a bit harder as it needs to raise the water more.

Today I got a chance to clean my filter, it was too early, there was hardly any detritus gunk. But the reason I went for it was, there was an accident. When I took out garden hose from the cabinet that pipe came in contact with the filter loosening its seal and water started flowing out from the canister. After I fixed it I thought that now that I have already opened the filter, lets clean it.
After cleaning the filter I realized that, how easy it is to prime this filter. The person from whom I buy these aquatic items, misguided me said that ever filter should always be filled with before starting it thats why I struggled earlier. Tonight I used the priming valve in an empty filter and it worked great.
