Does anyone know how long I have to dip aquarium plants in heavily carbonated soda water in order to kill snails and their eggs? I remember hearing someone say this could be done, and then I tried to look on the internet to see how it was done and found nada.

Cheers!

No idea, but its just water with a high c02 concentration right?
If so you could leave them in there for a while without any issues.

I've heard that too but I don't think it kills the eggs...

For things like snails that can survive out of water for hours I don't know how effective carbonated water will be in killing them or their eggs.

Hi,

I've read somewhere that you can dip your plants in a bath containing Potassium permanganate to treat them against snails prior to putting them in your tank.

Never done it myself though and can't remember the quantities used, maybe try Google for more info on this method.

Regards Chris.
