i'm not new to keeping fish but i am new to the whole planted tank scene, recently i have been getting a lot of brown algae looking deposits on one species of plant hygrophilia polysperma and after reading through as many articles as possible the term"detritus" came up.so for the last couple of weeks i have been doing the full ie regime plus a daily 10% water changesyphoning any detritus from the substrate and adjusting the ie to compensate for the the losses due to the extra water changes the problem still remains.my drop checker is for the photo period always in the light green to yellow region except for the hour or so after changing water.as per the equipment in my sig i have good flow etc with the exception that i'm only using sponge and floss in the aqua 1 filter to aid flow a little.i know stems are a bit high maintainance but this is really taking the biscuit to the point that i may give them up altogether, does anyone have any other ideas that i may be missing......oh yeah and the filters get cleaned alternately one one week then the other the week after.
