Deficiency?

Hi all.

Recently rescaped one of my tanks

I know with a rescape I should expect the same issues as a new tank but I am noticing what I think are deficiencies in my rotala (sorry i can't remember the exact rotala it is.)?

Tank is 60x38x18cm, 30W LED at around 50% at the minute, full EI ferts, Eden 522 external filter and pressurised CO2 for a lime green drop checker.





Any idea's greatly appreciated.

Because <"it is the new leaves"> it is likely to <"be iron (Fe)"> or possibly manganese (Mn) deficiency. We've seen a lot of it in <"Rotala rotundifolia">.

Thanks @dw1305 I can dose extra iron and see.

Question regarding storing ferts, my 500ml bottles last around 17 weeks, i store them next to the tank and the bottles are transparent, will this affect them, especially micros?

I think you <"have hard water"> so I'd try a different chelator. Iron (Fe) deficiencies nearly always <"relate to availability, rather than amount">.

I am using RO water at 0KH and 4GH, so pretty soft water, plus CO2 injection from my PH down during the day.

Not sure then, iron deficiencies are much more unusual in soft water.

I would say Iron....have you got Magnesium in the Macro?

No Mg in my macro mix as I add it to my RO weekly, I add 8ppm MG and 24ppm Ca

Going to make up a new batch of ferts, this time either in a smaller volume or larger dose as I don't think me keeping them for a long time helps, I'll also pick up some Fe.
