Cryptocorynes with green spots on

I was told that Cryptocorynes would grow easily. I have pogostemon and rotala in the tank and its doing fine, but my cryptocorynes are very slow and they have green spots developing on them. I know this is a kind of algae but I dont know why its there. I use Seachem Flourish twice a week as per instructions, my lights are on for about 8 hours a day and my CO2 is on an hour longer. Any ideas?

If you are only dosing Seachem Flourish ferts are lacking in your tank. For better growth and healthier plants get an E.I dosing pack from one of our sponsers works out cheaper and covers all the ferts you need for your plants.Read the Tutorial written by Ceg about E.I dosing very worthwhile great infomation.Cheers mark

Damn, really ? I was told that this was an all rounder that should give all I need. Will this EI get rid of the algae spotting then ? Thanks again for your quick answers Mark.

No but you can be sure that ferts in tank are taken care of ceg's article is a must read!!Jason give more tank info so the members can help you Co2 input into tank, dropchecker colour at lights on and through the photoperiod,we know tank is lit for 8 hours but type/strength of lighting, flow in tank, fish stock ,water changes etc.Photo of problem is usefull.Cheers mark

OK here goes. Lights are 2 x 28w Juwel T5's as its a Rio 125. CO2 rate is about 4bps. The drop checker is lime green (i had read that before i got the tank and have been upping the CO2 gradually to get to that level). Its a juwel internal filter but the diffusor is underneath the outlet and i can see bubbles getting to all levels. The base is ADA Amazonia. I have a pair of Kribs, some rummy nose tetras, couple of guppies, and a pair of paradise fish. Let me know if I have missed anything else you need :) Phew, its all a bit technical, LOL.

Hey, green spot algae is a lack of PO4 which i dont believe is in Flourish as its just a trace mix. Buying an EI starter kit from our sponsor Aquariumplantfood is your best long term option or if you like premixed and paying more then Tropica specialised is an all round fert which is available from Aqua essentials or Freshwatershrimp.
Crypts are slow growers anyway especially when settling, once they are happy they grow like a weed.
Cut your lighting to 7 hours and have co2 come on a couple of hours before the lights so DC is light green before lights on.

Ahh ok, I will give that a go. Thanks. I think Im gonna have to read that EI article...

Good info from Iain i can recomend Aquariumplantfood EI starter pack very good value for money all ferts catered for after reading article by ceg you will have more insight.Agree with Iain 7 hours is enough light and co2 on 2 hours before lights on is a good move.50% water change a week keep filters clean and watch the flow in the tank a good idea is about 10x the tank volume.Cheers mark

Thats what i do do for water changes so on track there. The flow rate is not that high but to be honest, I have read a few threads on here that say its just a guide to ensure the CO2 gets around everywhere and from watching my bubbles its definitely doing that so I am hoping I will be ok. Will keep an eye out though and look at increasing it if need be. Thanks again Mark.
