This often happens to newly planted crypts, if left alone they usually reacclimatise and recover...
 
Melting is a general sign of poor CO2. As Troi mentions, the new lances typically emerge, however, the fact that there is melt means that if you have more headroom for CO2 or flow you should think about improving them.
