Can DIY fertilizer cause algae?

Guys guess what?! Today I bought a thermometer and, just so you know, I live in a tropical area and it is the end of summer now but for the last 2 months, humidiy and heat have been unbearable, anyways, if the thermometer is right then my water temperature is 85 F!!! This would be likely the cause for algae, correct?
