Hello all,

I'm new to this forum and very cool looking.

I rencently purchased Caloglossa cf. beccarii and after a week or so it begun to turn grey as dying.
Anyone growing this variety of moss here? I just wanted to know if mine would recover. I was hoping is was just adjusting the water temp where it came from.

Thanks!

Caloglossa is not a moss - it's an algae 😉
- from my experience, it grows considrably better in lower light conditions without added CO2. Red colour comes out better too !!
I had it turn grey-ish too, in high light and CO2 added.
Temp. in my tanks were around 24 Celsius.
When it likes yuor environment - it becomes quite invasive, actually 😱 !!!
Mick.

Just read the above thread - and I can confirm, that Amano's, Red cherries and Ramshorn snails dont eat the Caloglossa. I've still got it growing in my "Shrimp-bank" (low light, no added CO2, low fertilized ) where it clearly preferes to grow out of tbe central light. It'll not likely get in trade, as it presents itself terribly on its own.
Mick.
