calling the gods of the plants!

Im looking at getting some new plants for My discus tank. i have had to take into account that it will be running at around 28 degrees, no co2 and substrate will be ozmocote base layer with sand above. will be dosing ferts weekly.

The plant choices i am thinking of are......


Eleocharis Worried about this one as ive not seen many
sp. 'mini' low tech tanks with this....

Vallisneria The only plant I can grow without even trying...
sp. 'Natans'

Nymphaea Unusual plant, this one would be a bit of a test
lotus

Echinodorus
'Rubin'

Cyperus
helferi

Echinodorus
'Barthii'

Aponogeton
crispus

Are these ok choices? as a lot of them I have no experience with.

i am all open to ideas! the problem I have is that most of the plants seem to be similar to each other so I am struggling for some variety......

The only one that you might struggle with its the eleocharis 'mini'. I never got it to take very well. E. acicularis does ok for me in low tech, if not spectacularly.

cheers, I thought as much. I think that is my only choice for a carpeting plant too!

How about lileaopsis? Does well for me in low tech. Or E. tennelus.

I have to be honest and say I have no idea at all about the temperature limits of different plant species. You'd need to do some googling for first hand reports.
