I bought some frozen bloodworms for my betta recently and thought I would give him some as treat. He was having none of it! 🤣all he wanted was his pellets.

Does anyone elses betta not like bloodworms?

Yep. Got several types of freeze dried food and he spits them all out. Definitely a fussy eater. I still try now and again

Honestly I've never found a fish that likes bloodworms and I find it weird reading about how much fish love them. All my fish completely ignore them if they're defrosted, the only thing that actually likes them is shrimp. I think it's a size thing as I only really keep small fish. They go crazy for tubifex worms and dero worms though.

My Hengli Rasboras loved them, non even reached the floor. but yeh I always see peoples bettas going crazy for bloodworms.

Funnily enough my betta did think my blue dream shrimp were a tasty treat.... Maybe i should dye the bloodworms blue😁

None of my fish are very impressed with frozen bloodworm either. Try him with some live daphnia as a treat, and you might see a very different response!

Sadly my betta Bruce off'ed him self whilst I was on holiday by getting his head stuck in a piece of dragon stone 🙁 ....he did however eat frozen bloodworms. They are pretty individual creatures behaviourally though, so I can see why it would differ from one to another.

do you grow your own or purchase them? If you purchase them, is it one pipette squirt (~2-3ml) per serving, and how long can they store for?

sorry to hear!

Hi all,
do you grow your own or purchase them?
Personally I don't feed frozen, or freeze-dried, Bloodworm.

I'm happy to feed live ones that I have <"ranched"> myself, in relatively clean water, but not commercially purchased live Bloodworms.

The problem is that you only get <"commercially collectable quantities of Bloodworm"> (and Tubifex) in very organically polluted water.

cheers Darrel

I always find it weird reading about how much fish love bloodworms when in my experience nothing really likes them apart from shrimp
All my fish go wild for tubifex and dero worms but they're just not that interested in live or frozen bloodworms.
