Aquarium Systems New-Jet pumps?

Does anybody have any experience of these:

I am looking to increase the circulation in my 190l tank; at the moment I have a Eheim classic 2213 with a 2x turnover on this tank however the fitration still seems adequate as I have:

Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 20

....but the flow is quite pathetic. I have looked at the Eheim pumps but they are over my budget and the Ebay items are usually incomplete. I wish to use it as an external pump with the view of later adding a Hydor external heater and a diy CO2 reactor to the circuit.
They seem like a good piece of kit; adjustable flow rate, internal or external, overheat cut-out, 38w on the 2300 lph model with a 2.4m head.

Any comments would be appreciated.

I noticed those the other day and thought they sounded good. Where did you get the spec on the head and wattage?

Update: just seen the specs on the Charterhouse Aquatics site. Also found the Aquarium Systems site but still trying to find a flow/head chart for the 1700 ...

Good pumps for the money, but bear in mind they're only adjustable for flow if used submerged, once you remove the front cover to attach the input hose tail you loose the option to adjust the flow down.

I haven't used the AS pumps but the Maxijet powerheads are very robust and mechanically last for ever.

What about using some kind of valve to restrict the flow on the flow or return, after all the flow control used when it is submerged is just a disc that you rotate to open or close the inlet, in effect restricting the flow at the pump?
