Aquamanta efx400

I am about to take delivery of a 186ltr tank and have an Aquamanta efx400 for it.

I've read that it may be worth replacing the sponges? I'm in 2 minds at the moment, whether to just set it up & see, or get some new media - can anyone recommend some media if I was to change it.

I've been running one of these for 8 months, and the only thing I've added is some JBL silcate filter medium in a bag in one of the trays. Apart from that, I've kept the sponge filters, etc. and it's worked well. The only issue I had was having to replace the impeller, as the one that came with it was slightly wonky and made a dreadful noise. The MA shop I bought the filter from gave me a new impeller without hesitation, so maybe this is a known problem ?
