Any special techniques for breeding Green Neon Tetra?

So recently I got 13 green neon tetra for a 60 litre aquascape. They are one of my favourite nano fish and I have always wanted to breed them but I have never really got round to properly setting up a breeding tank. Has anyone had luck breeding the green neon or any neon tetra for that matter? From what I know soft water is a must and I will try and use a thick crushed lava rock substrate for the eggs to fall into. My tap water is not particularly soft so would collected rainwater do the trick? Also, I recently watched a video about breeding common neon tetra from Keeping Fish Simple, and dry peat moss(the stuff you put in terrarium soil mixes) was used to introduce tannins - is this a worthwhile step? Furthermore, does anyone know if gradually reducing temperature causes tetras to spawn? I know that can help with some barbs and white clouds but haven't found much info on neon tetras. Any information would be very helpful. Thanks a lot.

I have had success in breeding neon tetra and Serpae tetra. Reducing ph is definitely key and so is removing light from the tank once the fish have spawned as tetra eggs are very sensitive to light. There are some great videos on YouTube by Marksaquatics that are fantastic at giving you the key things to do when going about breeding tetra. Start by watching the ones on neon tetra and then maybe do some more research to see if green neons spawn in the evening as lights go out or when lights come on in the morning. Good luck!
