Algae/fungal?

Evening all,

Not posted for a while as my tank (c5 months old) was plodding away nicely. Recently, I've noticed the wood has loads of small black dots growing all over it. None of the rocks or plants have it on them. Tank is low light/setup, 50%WC once a week, had 5 platys but they bred like mad so only have three babies in there now.

Is this some kind of algae/fungus that may become problematic?

Looks like a fungus decomposing the wood! I have to say it looks pretty good 👍! Will it be problematic? For your fish probably not. For your wood, eventually. What type of wood is it? As long as the wood is not roting away I wouldn't stress about it.
