Hello Guys,

I have a new setup but I have some algae issues. May be you can help me to find what is the reason.

Setup date: 07.07.22
Tank dimension 30x30x30 cm
Light : Creaqua Nano S Black
Co2 : Pressurized co2 (7/24) - indicator level photo attached.
Filter : Sunsun 603b canister filter, inside fully seachem matrix.
Soil : Neo plant soil (nothing added additionally)
Fertz : Neo 1 + Neo 2 solution. Started from 25.07.22 just one pump. (At the beginning I didn't use any fertilizer only potassium.)
Plants : Eleocharis parvula, mini christmas moss.
Water parameters: RO water, TDS: 120 ppm.
Photoperiod: 6 hours non-stop.
Additionally daily excel usage.

I think there is a cyanobacteria on mosses and on some parvula. Also some hair algae?

Hi GGlass

I am no expert, and I have never used CO2. I do have some recent experience setting up a few different tanks. Three of them are growing algae really nicely - a different type in each one!

However I also have a 55litre tank which is planted with moss, Anubias and java ferns. It’s primary light source is a 3 watt light which is on for 8 hours. It gets a small amount of afternoon sunlight. The plants all look healthy and there is no algae.

Based on this very non-scientific experiment I would suggest that you should look to the light as the main source of your problems.

It's a new set up so it's a good idea to assess the light also daily water changes in the first week or so . Guessing you get these temperatures in your location. Remove as much manually as possible. Consider a floating plant

It could be inconsistent CO2 moving the drop checker around could indicate this, how's the flow does it appear to go all around the tank? CO2 24/7 not something that's necessary IMO. Overall the plants look not bad off the image. Water changes ,manual removal and adding some fast growers and floating plants may help. Of course the lighting may be filtered by floating plants ,could be a good thing
