I started posting this journal on two other sites and later decided to focus my time on ukaps. This is a full recap, rewrite, and up-to-the-minute report.
Let's start with constraints. I decided on a "40 Gallon Breeder", ie. 95x45x40cm, and got a stand with only a small storage cupboard and...
Hello all,
(Skip to the end for the question)
I've gone and set up my first high tech tank. It was quite overwhelming researching and purchasing everything but here's my set up:
Tank: Fluval roma 200
Light: Chihiros wrgb2 slim
Filter: Fluval 307 (full of seachem matrix as per Green Aqua)...
Hi there, I’m urgently requesting some help. I’m still new to aquariums & fish, so forgive me if I’m getting some things mixed up. For around the last month, my shrimp have been slowly dying on me. It’s not just the one breed of shrimp, it’s them all such as XL Amano, Cherry , Yellow shrimp &...
I am considering adding some Silvertip Tetra to my well planted scape along with the Cardinals, Otocinclus and Amano shrimpthat I already have in there. But I'm a little unsure whether they will harrass the shrimp and nip at their antennae after reading that they can be fin nippers.
Will the...
Hi I am new to aqauscaping and recently added three Amano shrimp. From the pictures I have seen one of them doesn’t look like an amano shrimp.
Can someone help me identify what shrimp it is if it’s not amano? Or do the dots appear as they get bigger, this one is still small (approx 1cm)
Shrimps of all ages and all varieties decided to reunite in the sand patch. Except for the Caridina multidentata who as always don't like showing their faces. Happy I was:
Neocaridina davidi (cherry)
Neocaridina davidi (blue velvet)
Caridina gracilirostris

As posted in the fish section we have about 8 amano shrimp and about 30 white cloud mountain minnows to be rid of.
Males and females (some regularly berried)
South Devon area (Buckfastleigh) you can also peruse the mountain of equipment we seem to have accrued, but I'll list all that in the...
Hi, Finally giving up the hobby, fascinating and wondrous though it is, Neither myself or my daughter have the time for it, and now we are moving house.
So, some lucky person has the chance to relieve us of around 8 amano shrimp and about 30 white cloud mountain minnows.
South Devon area...
Hi everyone,
For the past 1 week or so, I have notice that my Cabomba Caroliniana which has been doing great since day one, has started break off into pieces and float to the top. It's not the whole plant but about 3 to 5 cm of the plant from it’s top.
At first I didn't pay much attention to...
Hey everyone,
I'm puzzled to why my Amano shrimp are jumping ship... 0.o
I recently added 6 small/medium Amano shrimp to my high tech planted aquarium. There is no other livestock in the tank and all the water tests seem to look fine. The tank is open topped and the water level is around...
So I started this tank back on the 9th June (can't believe it's been that long) and have had some set backs with some plants not doing so well due to soil burn (I presume) and have changed things around a little. Basically this was an experiment to see what I could grow DSM and I tbh I wasn't...
Hey Guys,
