    Custom regulator. PICS ADDED.

Hi Wazuck, nice project with the regs. Could you let me know where you've ordered the Parker MV's please - I've been trying to get accurate flow meters for a while, and that seems a very good price, thanks.

atomizer bubbles from a diy spray bar

I'd agree with Foxfish on this. When I used a 1" diameter spray bar, the micro bubbles would accumulate at he highest point in the spraybar, then when a bubble got big enough to touch one of the outlet holes ( which were 3mm ), that bubble would pop out. My solution was to reduce the diameter...

    New 500l tank project plans

Just another thought Paulo... I have problems with my tank thats in the wall with installing the koralias as you can't get the magnets on the back of the glass due to it being up against the wall. The internal suction cups work for a while but seem to vibrate loose very easily. Tony

    New 500l tank project plans

Hi Paulo Good to hear this might be a goer - it'll make a great journal :D I limited my optiwhite to 55cm tall, as this means I can comfortably reach the substrate. My discus tank is 60cm, and is built into the wall higher than it would be on a stand, so you have to get steps out to reach...

Tank for moss and emersed growing - DONE :)

Of course :D Thanks Gill. Its kind of on hold for a while  I'm going to be working abroad for the next 5 weeks, so I wont be able to look after it properly. The mosses will stay in there, as the daylight it recieves, plus the daily auto water changes should see them ok, but...

Re: Acrylic tank for moss and emmersed set-up Thanks Glenn, this certainly wouldnt have happened without my mate doing all the acrylic for me - well worth the bottle a bottle of Bushmills  The leak testing is complete, and it passed  so its now in situ, and I've just trialed...

Tank for moss and emersed growing - DONE :)

Re: Acrylic tank for moss and emmersed set-up Hi James There are 5 moss chambers on the left which are 12cm x 12cm so I can just get my hand in there. Each moss is going to be on a branch within the chamber, so you can just lift the branch out :D The other two moss chambers on the right (I...

Re: Acrylic tank for moss and emmersed set-up Cheers James  I got the rest of it put together this afternoon, just leaving it to cure over night before a leak test tomorrow. Excuse the crappy iphone pics, but it gives you an idea ! Tony The full tank, with lids in place: This...

Re: Acrylic tank for moss and emmersed set-up So the testing progressed quickly to building the proper tank  I now have the upmost admiration for folks who build acrylic tanks for a living - its very tricky stuff to work with ! The "adhesive" actually melts the acrylic, so that the 2...

Tank for moss and emersed growing - DONE :)

Hi I've designed a 'growing' tank, which will have several compartments for moss / plants which will be submersed, plus two larger compartments for emmersed growth of plants. Its going to be built out of acrylic, and a friend has already computer cut all the pieces for me at his work. My...

    George's 80cm set-up - lighting and filter options

Hi George, congrats on the new tank - very nice size that is :D I was looking at a 90cm tank at MAq Weybridge the other day, that was running 3 Aquabeam tiles. The shimmering effect was really nice, and their plants seemed to be doing well (though the set up was only 2 weeks old). I was...

Does this all sound reasonable? Any equipment imbalances?

Excellent Paul :D And now the wait begins.... Have you seen the Vortech powerheads ? They arent cheap at £250+ , but give masses of flow, and no cables going in to the tank - they work by magnetics through the tank so all you need to do is hide the head behind something...

DIY Project home made lighting stand's hints & tips

Does this all sound reasonable? Any equipment imbalances?

Hi Paul Well, the 2028 and the 2128 both have a filter circulation rating of 750lph, giving a total of 1500lph. As the general recommendation is 10x turnover, and the tank is 225l (assuming 50mm of substrate ) so you should be aiming for 2250lph. That said, it also depends on the amount and...

Does this all sound reasonable? Any equipment imbalances?

Hi Paul Nice to meet you on Sunday ! Your setup is virtually identical to my new one - same tank, same lights. I'll be running an eheim 2028 and a tetratec 1200 and PM lily pipes for now (cal aqua later :D ) I'm hoping they will give me enough flow, but we'll see ! The 'hula-hoop' style...

Hi I've just serviced my SP3000's this morning, replacing the rubber tube, and the motors. The new tubes came with end fittings, so i was about to chuck the old ones out when I remembered this thread :D I've got 2 used tubes with end fittings, the rubber has seen better days, but if they're...

    Anyone want a DIY Reactor?

Hi Ed Can i have another one please, if you are ordering more bits ? As you have seen I've decided to plant out my Discus tank, so an inline reactor on there would be great. Thanks Tony

    Anyone want a DIY Reactor?

Another option I was wondering was whether you could add a pump inline along with the reactor and filter (with built in pump) to increase the flow rate ? This would save having to have another out / in let in to the tank, but would it cause the filter damage if water was being pumped into or...

    Anyone want a DIY Reactor?

Thats great thanks Ed - dont worry about the 180degree return, I'm sure you've thought it all through and come up with the best design ! Please let me know when you would like to be paid, and how. Thanks Tony

    Anyone want a DIY Reactor?

Hi Ed Count me in for one too ! With 16mm tails please, and with a 400mm long tube. Also would there be a benefit to having a 180 degree ubend at the bottom of the tube instead of the elbow, as I guess that outlet will be heading straight to the tank above ? Thanks Tony
  39. Tony Swinney

    Anyone want a DIY Reactor?

Hi Ed I'm quite interested in your reactor ! I'm starting a new tank in the next couple of weeks and want an inline reactor in the cabinet, so this could be ideal. Out of curiosity if the tube was 300mm long instead of 500mm would it make a lot of difference to the CO2 absorbtion, or would...

    Fluval Osaka Aquariums

    Thanks Keith and Rob.
