The two main pros to getting a mac IMO is the great design, and the fact that there aren't many viruses for Mac's around, they tend to last a lot longer than Windows.

And they weren't exactly cheap to begin with! Ah well, we can dream eh. :cry:

in regards to the above, I agree that it can be quite daunting when people first enter the planted tank side of things, let alone join a new forum where everyone seems to know everything there is to know. That's not to say they haven't already searched for what they want to know, just because...

When my iPod used to mess up I found the Apple help pages no help at all. They just stated the obvious, which didn't really help. I haven't had any experience when my iPod messes up big time, but I doubt it could be malware or anything like that. I don't think it would affect the iPod...

From what friends have told me (I don't do any science A-levels) chemistry is the hardest out of the lot, because it's just pure confusing science. Physics is easier because it's just basically maths.

I just CANNOT live without Firefox or iTunes. Other programs I use often though are: Microsoft Word MS Paint Windows Live Messenger 4oD Kasperskey Anti-Virus Screen grab! is a good add-on. Apart from that I just use a load of web developer add-ons. If you want some good open-source programs...

Amano's Nature Aquarium World books - they are quite expensive at about twenty pounds but they're well worth it IMO from aqua essentials. there's also the IAPC books that are okay, but not as good from the green machine. apart from that, i've heard good things about the aqua journals

I think my parents' laptop has that version - you know on the original XP the start menu background was white, is yours blue? It works fine for them if you've got the same version.

Hmm... I don't know anything about computers from a hardware point of view but maybe it's somethin to do with that? Are you sure all of the parts are there/connected properly/working? It might also be that XP isn't installed properly or something.

I would agree about getting a few copies before subscribing. There's always about two planted tank articles - sometimes more (maybe a step-by-step setup, George's 'Great Planted Tanks' and some other stuff). Then there's the main article that is usually on a certain type of fish like L-nuber...
