Yep. Bought this from amazon and have been adding it to the tank for about 3 weeks. Seen a massive improvements in the plants. Bought 2kg from amazon. Will last a life time.

I went for the standard FE route with a JBL inline diffuser.
So far plants are adjusting and a lot greener and funnily enough,.. not growing like crazy

Recommend a replacement or suggestions for an external?
I'm currently using an external combined with the internal pump. Using a Fluval 206 but if you have room a 306 would be good to pimp out extra flow.
You can get replacement parts up on amazon and I believe you can go up to the bioflow...
How's it going everyone? Just wanted to check in and ask how these lights are performing?
I've done change of plants and bought more. Plants popping more than ever.
Also setup co2 so hoping to get some good growth.

Tbh, the light intensity is pretty high so I've had to turn mine down.
Haven't run into any algae issues but the plants did melt a little due to the change of conditions.
A simple prune to encourage new growth against the new conditions has helped.

My regime:
Dawn - 10am - 12pm
Sunrise - 12pm - 3pm
Sunset - 6pm - 8pm
Dusk - 8pm - 10pm
So far so good and enjoying the freedom of movement in the tank without the huge ballast in the way.
I've even just removed the lids that attach to it and just left it open - not the prettiest site but just...
How's the light doing?
I've had to dim the unit to about 70% across white and blue as it was a little to much at 80%
So far the plants are holding up

I've had to turn down the brightness of the sunrise setting as 100% lights was to much. I'll slowly increase back to 100% over the next few weeks until the plants adapt.
Hi - I'm no expert when it comes to lighting but I am expecting some algae as I've gone from low intensity lights to these. Will be paying close attention to what my plants tell me.
I've setup the controller and only took about 10 minutes to get my desired 24hr lighting period. Finally, no...
Just got mine yesterday and set it up on my Lido 120.
Never seen so much light and it really brings out (to me) a washed out look. Plants that I thought looked green were rather lighter in colour (that's what happens after 3 years using the same tubes)
Got the controller on order and will...
I never thought of it like this and is the likely explanation for my plants doing the same thing.
I always tend to shorten the duration of lights on when a mass of new plants have been added.
I use the Sodestream setup as well and while I can't count the bubbles, I usually get through one bottle very two weeks. Ordering another FE now as I have a local place that recycles.

I've had no success with red plants. Never seem to root and I get a number of holes appearing - could be a potassium issue but all the green plants show good health :(
I tend to that that if you do plant, bury as far down as you can, then force the tweezers open and shake as you pull back to the surface.
This disturbs the gravel slightly and allows it to fall back in to the little hole you've just made.
I got my setup from co2supermarket.co.uk
I am though moving to an FE setup once my last bottle finishes.
The Sodastream bottles can be bought at £10 at a time. You just return your empty bottle for an exchange.
How do you set these up? Would it be that it puts in 1ml per rotation?
If it were 25ml, you'd program it to rotate 25 times? or is it timed based?
Apologies if it's been answered already!
I run carbon both in my jewel internal and external filters. I've even left them in for a few months.
Know they stop collecting organic compounds after a few weeks/months but then they just become another standard sponge.
Looks interesting as I want to setup a very basic shrimp tank.
Was going to buy a full setup but I gave some spare substrate and tank.
See that you don't have any filters.
That the case?
Our sponsors sell these: http://www.aquaessentials.co.uk/easy-aqua-simple-regulator-p-6181.html
There is a review on there.
I havent personally used one.
I get through one bottle in just over a month on my 120L.
Bought an FE off EBay as it was working out to be a rennet a month.
I'll keep a bottle as an emergency but it hasn't really worked out as a cost saving setup.
FE all the way.
Having recently come back from a 10 day trip, I decided to drop the lights and turn off co2 completely.
Done a massive water change the day before.
Came back to a dirty external filter (the tube was green but had turned brown) but no fish lost and a few leaves had been lost.
Did a good clean...
Ive been using the soda stream bottle setup for a few months now.
In order for me to use the bottle with the reg - standard din477 connection - I bought the soda stream adaptor from co2supermarket.
The adapter screws in reg and bottle screws into the adapter.
No problems so far.
I think Clive mentioned that any dosing of co2 would automatically turn a tank hi-tech (even LC)
Not to sure though that dosing ferts would put the tank in to the hi-tech region, could someone confirm?
Lights are lights, unless you want to be looking at ya tank in the tank....just keep the...
Yeah. When I do my weekly clean I take the section cups and just put them aside in boiling water.
Brings them back to life and would kill any algae on there. A good scrub also helps.
With what Martin mentioned invest in some dry salts. Check the tutorial section for E.I Dosing.
You can buy a starter kit for about 18 quid from APF.
Are you going high tech?
Yep, I've had that reg for a few months now.
So far so good and hasn't caused me any problems so far.
Just make sure you have a spanner and wrench to properly tighten the FE to the Reg.
Root tabs are not that useful if your using the EI method.
I bought a few from our sponsors just to add the more difficult types of plants to grow as I hadn't put in a substrate.
Plants are looking healthy.
I'm no expert but I mix 50/50 cold-boiled water.
Plants have shown positive signs of growth and look real healthy.
I also increased my mix per powder.
But take your and observe.
I've put money on that game too.
Can't see UTD losing against Chelsea who have had such a weak run of late.
Plus, UTD will be seeing red after Tuesday's match.
United till I DIE!
:P
How do you dispose of the FE once empty and have no intention of refilling?
Was about to go ahead and order a 2kg bottle until I wondered about the above.
Yeah I bought a few wave makers from them and I'm about to send the item back for refund.
Their CS team are very slow to respond but they do get back in touch.
They do seem to really bang on about the items being in perfect condition and whatnot.
I've emailed them with my intentions to return...
If you can afford the iMacs I'd drop down the money right away.
I've got the newer edition which is slime as my HD tv...Unfortunately it doesn't have a CD drive and you can't upgrade.
So if you have the money, spend as much as you can.
As with all Apple products we dont know when a new one...
Thanks Darrel for the heads up.
I have a great deal of plants in my tank, so once I get home I'll pop one in to a dense populated area and monitor the situation!
Cheers Ian for the heads up. Lucky I had forgotten to put a tab in while doing the WC this morning.
Cant find any number to call.
Ah well..... Was only 4 quid.
I bought 4 packs as you never know with pound land since they usually buy bulk one off goods.
4 quid ain't bad but a bit hesitant to use with shrimp in the tank.
I'll give one a go and watch the shrimp to see if thy react.
Taking a look at the copper percentage that is rather low?
I have a few shrimp but would that really damage the shrimp?
It notes only to use one or two
So... Found a pound land and was looking around in all my excitement and came across some slow release fertiliser clusters for a quid!
Before putting this in to the tank I've taken a read and it seems to be a very cheap option for those that buy expensive root tabs.
But... It notes it for...
From the site:
Thanks for the post. On the revised instructions for regenerating Purigen, it is no longer necessary to soak the media in a buffer solution. The instructions are as follows:
Soak in a 1:1 bleach:water solution for 24 hours in a non-metalic container in a well ventilated area and...
I can't remember from the top of my head, but I think it's a half-point.
So rather then 10 dashes between each whole number, there is only 9 on one.
I'll check once I'm home :)
V.good shop for those that don't drive.
Their plants usually came in late Thursday so I usually pop down after work or Friday evening.
Good selection and in recent months have really given the store a good clean. The dedicated plant section is soooo clean!
Agree with Andrew. I to bought the reg from the site and haven't had any specific problems with it so far.
I had a leak between the Reg and FE but that;'s because connection wasn't tight enough - which can happen on any Reg+FE setup.
So far so good, I did however see a missing number on the...
I did run the Easy Aqua automizer with the bubble counter but experienced fluctuations in pressure and bubble count.
Went back to using a normal diffuser with the bubble counter - a lot more stable :)
I ran that with carbon and I'm amazed at the results. Fish look like their floating.
I haven't even recharged it after 3 month use. Will most likely bleach next weekend.
RVP should have killed off that game. Still believe the red was bought!
How could he blow the whistle when he'd just given a corner.
Fixed! Done everything against united.
Hi Ian,
I'm using a normal diffuser with an Easy Aqua Pro bubble counter/check valve.
So I'm already using less equipment then my last setup which was Reg > check valve > bubble counter > another check valve > diffuser and with that I had a good constent bubble rate.
My recent change I also...
Speaking to team co2 SM it should have last around the 2-3 months mark.
I'm running at around 2bps but the reg seems to fluctuate a lot so I'm not getting a constant rate.
Can't judge and don't know if I should buy another Reg or if it's down to the small capacity of the SodaStream bottle...
Yep, mine is doing that with the Easy Aqua atomizer inside my tank.
Just purchased a normal ceramic disc diffuser and will be switching back to that on the weekend.
Perhaps it's to do with the working pressure as the pressure fluctuates on the output pressure gauge or could be a simple case of...
How about setting up a hospital tank and then placing one of the two in to it?
Monitor the health of both and see if it clears up.
Ify ou haven't added fish for a while, perhaps introducing a female might be better as well.
The next question is...which is the best bubble counter?
I just bought the Easy Aqua pro bubble counter / check valve and the nut caps split!
Didn't even get to try it!
