If I had a foam pre-filter in the tank, I'd probably just switch the internal pre-filter foams for the new 10ppi ones.

Yeah, it does seem somewhat overkill. The Oase pumps water into the pre-filter chamber and then sucks through the pre-filter media into the pipe which leads to the temp chambre. I cannot think of a reason removing the media would be a bad thing to do. What I am humming over is whether you can...

Not really any need for hot or boiling water, if you want to soak them first so they sink use a bowl of tank water. That's the easiest way.

In effect I’m pre filtering twice. One on the inlet pipe 40ppi and again on the Biomaster 30ppi. I’m not sure I really need both and I can’t see the internal one is doing much. The reason for the in-tank pre filter is to protect baby shrimp.

Just thought I'd update, still alive and kicking! Has never lost their colour and still eats well so I think it's just a case of a damaged swim bladder. They come up for feeding, fingers crossed they'll still live out their full lifespan, albeit on a more horizontal plane...🙂

I think that's the image you tried quote :)...there is certain foods that are meant to help them colour up. Giving them time certainly helps, lighting can also.

I got the 40ppi 50mm thick foam I ordered from Finest Filters. Quick delivery and it seems ok, in fact I think the 40ppi is perfect for the inlet pipe.

So sorry to hear about this. Activated charcoal will work but if it were me I might try stirring the activated charcoal right into the water column directly, then filter out the charcoal. The culprit here is probably the permethrin in the Indorex Defence Spray and it is not very water soluble...

IMO, because it’s a 58L low tech tank with a 400lph filter, circulation will be sufficient and there is no need for all plants to have a gentle movement.

Most vets practices have care plans whereby you get monthly flea treatment and three monthly worming tablets, a free nurses consultation in a year, annual vacination booster. Well worth considering

The clue is in the name... the 'filter' is designed to filter, not push water around the tank. You can add a small powerhead to get the flow where you want in the manner you'd like it to be.

Yes, don't stress! I am sure, despite the apparent bypass, that there will be many minor eddies in that corner of the tank that are slowly redistributing the water around the area. It will be slow moving for sure, but far from stagnant.

I find a p60 a great versatile mid-sized tank, though ideally get one that's 40cm deep rather than the standard 30cm deep so you can get a bit mroe depth into the scape. It makes all the difference, and then have a bit more room for stocking some lovely fish too.
