What is the safest way to move Buce to new tank

Just move them, they are very robust as are most plants. I've had rare varieties in a damp plastic bag for 3 months before now and they just bounce back. You might get a few leaves drop but nothing to worry about. 👍

CO2 ran out, fish super active!

I think this is more common than most high energy tank keepers would admit. Ive seen so many injected tanks where fish are static or limited movement compared to when a water change has just been completed. A lot photos and videos of injected tanks are also taken outside of the lighting/co2...

36x24x18: Good things come (I hope!) - Newbie

It's happened to the best of us, just throw a heavy rock on it and leave it a week or two the you can get on with planting. Spotted a couple of dead shrimp so figured I'd pushed the 'no water change' philosophy too far and gave this a bit of a spuce up. Tds was 467 and came down to 280. I'll do another later in the week and get it to 180 ish. Bit of a hair cut and it looks all good for another 3 or 4 months.

Diatoms, BBA, something else that isn't even algae related!?? Argh!!

It is BBA, if you were to remove the SAE and relax your cleaning it would start growing tufts as the BBA you expect. Looking at your filter outlet direction, the anubias and the heater probably get most of the flow which would also correlate with BBA. BBA is often preceded by what looks to be...

Hey Andy, another Cambridge lad! BBA is generally from high organic matter or flutuating co2. It gathering in front of or on power heads and outlets is pretty normal, as yours is above the co2 diffuser it makes even more sense. Add to that that power heads don't get cleaned very often.... If...

Hi and welcome to the forum. As above, aim for 10x rule. 50% weekly water change is killing my shrimp?

50% weekly water change is killing my shrimp?

Tds climb is normal but if you base is 150, if you add say 500 tds (arbitrary) of ferts over the week it should still remain below 200 by the end of the week. 1 rest day and 50% wc should then reset it to your base at 150... It's not always that simple though, my shrimp tank for example bases at...

And before @ceg4048 gets here... there are no rules 🤪
  54. Iain Sutherland

50% weekly water change is killing my shrimp?

Is the RO remineralised? If its straight RO then the tank is likely low on minerals essential to shrimp. If your tds climbs so much it cant be controlled by normal weekly water changes then you need to reduce your fert dosing as the plants arent using enough .👍

If im completely honest, the ficus in the filter is a massive pain in the blahblahblahblah in respect to the tank. From the 6 filter 'pads' I can only clean one as the roots own the others. aesthetic "transparent" overflow design that would fit well in a ADA-style nature aquarium

I think it would be a nightmare to maintain, if you think how quickly filter pipes/ lily pipes get grubby. Even ADA Gallery sumped tanks have black weirs, probably for good reason.
  60. Iain Sutherland

Stems and the fine co2 line

It is the down side to a hob filter, straight down flow wouldnt be ideal, certainly with my hobs if I dont top up I see negative effects quite quickly. Keeping lateral flow would be better. Again though unless you are losing unreasonable amounts of lower leaves dont chase perfection with stems...
  61. Iain Sutherland

Stems and the fine co2 line

To a certain extent, and some stems more than others, it happens in low tech. However it is more about flow and the nutrients/co2 it carries than light. Adding more light will likely add issues... unless it drops all leaves aside the top few then focus on getting flow down to lower levels first.👍
