I would assume you can do it by filling the gap with silicone as you would a normal tank. All three of those panes would be pushing out from the water pressure so it should force a tighter seal if anything. 20cm tall, I wouldn't put to much thought into it :)
The biggest problem you will have is fungal growth. You can periodically flood and drain to halt it. Extremely easy to keep this way. Don't require additional light other than ambient room light and i misted every 6-8 weeks. They don't enjoy constantly wet leaves when emersed. Soil can be damp...
This plant came from my mother's pond. It contains natives and mimulus luteus which self seeds all over the place. Any ideas?

The orange is very obvious emersed but I imagine people complained about the red from tropica. Quite underwhelming

I was readin something the other day about temperatures above 60 removing cyanide some how. Do you know much about this at all? If so then a quick boil wold do the trick perhaps?
Sorry I'm late :)
Lighting is the standard 5050 led that came with the tank. Quite dim but I don't need bright light's for this one.
Fish are likely going to be bororas merah if I find them
Mazus certainly looks to have potential if it grows well :)
Trying to get some of the more obscure stuff now. I feel like I've done buce to death but I like the random mosses and other plants you get in the clumps. Always exciting :D

It's being called 'cf Beccarii' by a few sources but as you say, very different to Beccarii.
Michael Lo has some images of the same plant online going partly submerged so I'm hopeful :)
This one was tangled up in an aridarum sp which is the only reason it was collected (accidentally)

One of my guys is reluctant to touch it. It's a perfectly legitimate export but a lot of orchids are protected where he is from so he normally leaves well alone. I'll grab an extra for you if anyone comes through. Got some cool ferns coming next week. Hopefully they travel well :)
You would be surprised :)
Been keeping bucephalandra a few years now mainly planted in substrate. They don't suffer like anubias would under the same care. In nature they can be found growing on dirt banks and they naturally accumulate a layer of soil in the roots and rhizome structures :)
I've...
I've had monte carlo in the tank before that did well. Very slow as you would imagine but healthy and compact.
I can increase light if needs be but I like slow and healthy growth. Easy to manage rather than weekly trims :)
Any recommendations for low light stems?
Currently at 0.3 WPG over a 70cm depth.
Cabomba and ludwigia repens are doing very well for me.
Low tech of course.
Have a look on YouTube at wild tetra. You will notice a large number of them are shoaling at all.
Schooling is a response to threat, no two ways about it. I'd much rather have different behaviour from a haply fish than forced shoaling through fear.
None of my tetra shoal to any degree. My...
Is crepidomanes not Indian?
I *may* have a semi aquatic fern from borneo soon. Trying to persuade him at the moment but if it turns up I'm happy to let you have a small sprig :)
I've had success with other seeds (echinodorus, bucephalandra and eriocaulon) using a thin layer of a muji cotton pad on top of aquasoil.
It's sold for vaping which is why I had I but it's great at wicking water and nutrients without getting saturated
Might join you with the utricularias soon :)
Yeh humidity.
Grows well emersed planted into moss or aquasoil (even play sand).
I don't mist them at all now and they grow nice coloured leaves contrary to popular belief.
I'm going try letting some grow out of the water on their own in a tank and see if they adapt better
My bolbitis difformis has gotten itself confused with java fern.
It's take about a week for it to do this.
It's chucking a out leaf plantlets java fern style at an alarming rate!

When I buy Buce that's grown emersed I cut the roots off as close as I can to the rhizome as they tend to rot away anyway. Some Buce have a very different root structure to others.
The one in the first in age looks like 'pink lady' which is similar to gigantea and kishii in terms of root...
I'm a little bit in love with this clump, thought you guys may like it :)
Nice submerged colours on this one
Personal favorite
Can't wait to get these bad boys in :)
Only one of 5 to survive the trip (just)
I'll keep the post updated as and when I have anything worth sharing :)

This anubias is one of few that I feel would be much happier out of water. Mine throws out new leaves at just the right pace to keep up with the old leaf death which is seemingly unavoidable for some reason for me.

Was about to jump in and say I can source it but you beat me to it :)
If you order it be sure to over order. It doesn't travel so well in my experience so it's best to order a lot in the hope some will survive (assuming this is from an indonesian source).
Dennerle have it now but it's not on...
They definitely look nicer grown submerged. It's not practical for me to collect them and keep them all submerged though :(
Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
Not a clue. Would make it easier to collect if they can be kept like this. My seller seems to think it will work :)

Just a little experiment to see how emersed bucephalandra 'ghost' will do uncovered at room humidity.
Roots and rhizome are in moss as it will wick the water nicely if I forget to top it up for a day or two.
I already know they do well with no heating, I've had them down to 12'c with no issues...
Way to cloudy for good photos but here is how it stands at the minute.
Plenty more to go in when I add some height with hardscape.
The java ferns are coming out and will be replaced with more buce and some rarer ferns.

Country of origin or other collector's.
I'm lucky to have made friends with someone who supplies me Buce at good rates :)

Upgraded to a 5 foot 4x80w T5HO unit today. Ridiculously overkill but it's now future proof :)
Could potentially be changing it for a 5x2x2 at some point. Similar volume but a better shape
Getting a bit 'meh' as I'm randomly chucking spare plants in.
Going to pull out some rocks later and cut down on the plant types to make it look a bit less chaotic
Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
I have added plants but growth has been good :)
I cheated with the ferns and bought them already well established. I'll get a shot now they are out :)
Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
Plant list will be updated when I have a spare minute.
Most of the java fern has been rehomed to make room for some other plants but I'm very happy with it in this image.
Started to get a bit ambitious with the lighting and upped it to 12 hours and 116 watts which has obviously created some...
Not much of a scape going on but I thought I'd share it anyway :)
50l cube,
9w led light
No ferts
No c02
Plants are java fern, java trident, mix of bucephalandras, nana pinto and a crypt 'flamingo' for now.
Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
I've just bought a reasonable collection of regular java fern cultivars. It's a shame no one has put much time into trying different sorts out. The supplier I showed is selling them at £5 each so might be worth a punt yet

Thanks Mick,
I know they are 2 different species but as I wasn't sure which I have it was the safer option to list both [emoji14]
Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
Has anyone ever toyed with other microsorum species in an aquarium? I don't mind being a guinea pig but if people have tried it would save some effort
Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
Wouldn't waste your money.
I use an active substrate and that's the only expensive thing that goes in the tank. They get fed on soya bean pellets, dandilions and nettles :)
I have a larger but very similar looking one that's not doing to great. I'll let it mature a little and report back :)
Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
I'll pull a bit out and get a macro shot for you :) give me a minute and ill edit this post with some shots
Excuse the colours. Rgb led doing weird things to my phone

I've tried the same sp zozo and after a while I found that it looks like it's about to die then takes off again. I pulled it out when I pulled he plagiomnium out as it looked a little ropey.
This is my current favorite native. Not a clue what it is but I believe it's a liverwort rather than a...
To elaborate on the importing side, phytosanitary certificates can be obtained from customs their side but aparantly it's the norm to have to bribe them.
