Hi
Just purchase a piece of Silicone tubing....there are various sizes on Ebay.

@Aqua Hero
My take on this is if you are doing regular water changes you don't need to at the start-up stage!
Caveat.... it depends on what's in your Tap-water.

You could start with the above then make your own in the future.
Hi
Continue with water changes and dose 25% of the recommendation.
New leaves need to mature before colour increase's.
Green thread algae = too much light usually?
Are you dosing straight into the water column?
If you are, best mixing the fertilizers with a jug of aquarium water.....then tipping it in.
Rotala are very susceptible to leaf burn if the fertilizers are dosed too near them.
Hi Richard
As I have said.....stop all dosing for 4 weeks as you have an abundance of Micro/Iron in the water column!
You can do multiple large water changes if you do not want to wait that long.
You can follow @Happi's recommendation....when you see new growth on the Rotala that is not affected...
I wouldn't dose Potassium as you want to reduce all fertilizers in the water column.
A prune of the affected stems as @Cor stated will be beneficial to encourage new fresh growth.
Hi
Rotala sp can be a temperamental plant for some!
Personally, I have found that cutting back or stopping the dosing routine for 4 weeks can tell you a lot about this plant.
Members have had issues with Potassium affecting Rotala growth patterns.
My take is too much nutrients in the water...
You could use slate tiles....might be lucky and find a size that fits the width of the bottom.
You will still have to remove them periodically to clean under them.
Or drain the tank and use a piece of Yoga mat underneath.
Yes, Co2 gas concentration may well affect fish!
You can run 24/7 put you will need to have gas exchange from a filter outlet of some sort, or a small air pump.
Best purchase a Co2 drop checker....although this has a lag time for the actual reading.
Hi
I'm using it on a slow growing planted tank....so can't vouch for growing carpet plants as this light is situated at the back of the hood!
It's pretty bright at the back of the aquarium on full power.
No fish in this aquarium;)
Hi
6. Substrate......Inert black painted quartz gravel.
I would add root tablets/balls/sticks to improve plant root development!
Purchase a TDS Meter/Pen....and check TDS is not too high!
This looks like high lighting reaction!
Similar to Blyxa japonica under intense lighting.....so not a deficiency, as others have mentioned likes lower temperatures.
Hi Folks
Sad to hear about those deaths!
Sponge insert isn't really the answer as it will clog up eventually.
I know there is some members have 3D printing, maybe they could print a cover to fit over the outlet pipe, you would need to ask in the Wanted Forum...
The above should be posted at the start of each help request.
Why do we ask these questions?
It will stop the member posting multiple times and helpers don't need to scroll through a whole thread to find them.
I wouldn't bash Royal Mail they are still far superior than the rest!
Especially Evri......who falsely claimed my Parcel from M&S was delivered......I kicked up a right stink and fuss!
One of the reasons I don't like light coloured sand it discoloures quickly and reflects a lot of light attracting algae.
Use darker coloured sand next time.
Or mix it with darker sand.
Hi @Trevor C
Purchase a selection of floating plants Amazon Frobit/Pistia stratiotes/Red Root Floaters!
These three can guide you to what could be happening in the water column regarding nutrients levels.
The plants look pale to me.....the middle image above.
There is one stem of Rotala where...
Hi
I didn't have a heater in this aquarium below till end of November!
You can, but the growth will be slower in some plants and stagnated in others, Red Root Floaters didn't appreciate the lower temperature.

Looks promising @daejra
Get some floating/surface plants.....and implement the Tutorial below!
You can always remove them at a later date.

Hi @si walker
Thanks for the reply, I will pass on that as I'm really looking for a hooded tank.
As I will probably modify the light in the hood.
Got eye on an Aqua One AquaStart.... unfortunately, it's not acrylic.
Thanks for the suggestion!
Cheers
You are underdosing if the aquarium is 90 Litres and running CO2 and reasonable lighting.
3x9ml = 27ml per week.
TNC Complete contains a balanced blend of Nitrogen, Phosphorous, and Potassium as well as Magnesium and all the important trace elements.
Dose
1ml per 10 litres of tank water per...
Hiya @calisp
You have received good advice from @John q
The substrate....JBL Manado Dark, looks like crushed lava rock, you have done well to grow plants in this substrate it doesn't have nutrients.....claims to hold Iron or harvest Iron?
You have diatomic algae and Green Thread Algae.
The S...
@Swim Shady
The Frogbit
They look a tad pale to me and they look a bit deficient.
Have a read at Darrel's great article below!
https://www.ukaps.org/forum/threads/what-is-the-%E2%80%9Cduckweed-index%E2%80%9D-all-about.73647/
@Swim Shady
My suggestion is to remove the Marsilea Crenata plants from the substrate and leave them on the surface for a few weeks till they grow new fresh roots then re-plant.
I suspect low Nitrate levels do not help with the adaption of this plant and the substrate is still leaching Ammonia.
